A Season: Boys High School Soccer

By Leslie Parks - Saturday, April 13, 2019

And so ends another high school season. Yet this one didn't end just for a season but for life. It was his senior year and then there would only be rec soccer.  Competitive, at times but the high school aspect is done.  It is time to move on to other sports, other things, a different life.  It makes me think of the song by Bruce Springsteen, "Glory Days".
"Glory days, well, they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye..."

And so it does but as long as we don't live there, as long as we see that it is a moment in time to be enjoyed and then enjoy the next moment.

He played soccer all four years of soccer and loved it. He wasn't the best but he didn't need to be.  He just wanted to play, to have fun and be slightly competitive.  I enjoyed the time watching him, visiting with parents on the sidelines and sometimes trying to stay warm.  A season has ended and I'm ready to say goodbye to it but glad to have been able to be part of it too.
